after i got back from japan i stayed in LA for a day then went straight to ATL for the Formula D race. it was awkwardly nice to see the first signs of the South’s hot muggy summer that is just around the corner. atlanta is such a cool event with definitely the most rowdy fans on the formula d schedule. this is drifting’s version of talladega. people set up tons of tents and chairs and have a big party on the grass overlooking the track.

highlight of the weekend was definitely the Drift Alliance domination in the event with Chris Forsberg taking home the win and Ryan Tuerck up on the podium in 3rd. DA produced 5 drivers into the ‘top 16′ with 3 drivers in the top 4. Joon Maeng absolutely killed it with his best finish of 4th. JTP had a great event making it into the ‘top 8′ and Vaughn Gittin was looking strong until he ran into some trans problems.

i didnt take a lot of pics so i put up a couple from Jarod’s blog. he does a much better job of recapping the whole weekend so go to his site and check out all of the pics.

we ate waffle house at either 2am or 10am every day of the weekend.

getting down to ‘im on a boat’ we were so amazed that ken gushi hadnt heard this song yet.
