i was in san francisco for NYE 2KX and had a blast. spent most of the week in the mission which is becoming my neighborhood away from home. my buddy andrew put me up and as always was a top notch host.
met a lot of fun people, ate delicious food, saw a bunch of nice art and ultimately had one of my best new years to date. it was the perfect end to my holiday break.
made over to moma one of the days and saw a lot of great stuff. i dont remember most of the artists names but i was stoked that they allowed picture taking.

this barry mcgee installation was sick. i really want to incorporate that concept in my place.

this piece was really cool. it is created from 1000 images of the sun taken from a flickr search.
andrew is playing in a band called La Corde and unfortunately they werent playing a show while i was in town but i did get to sit in during a practice. they flipping rock but almost made me deaf granted i was sitting 10 inches from the amp and less than 2 feet from the drums (their practice space is a bit tight). check them out at myspace.com/lacordesf
new years eve was low key but lots of fun. we just stayed in the mission and went to a couple different house parties. cool people and packed apartments.

thats the blue moon behind us…pretty cool it landed on nye.
the next night we went to go see our buddy vic play jazz at club deluxe on haight. i saw him play 3 nights out of the 5 i was in sf…each night with a different band and style of jazz. he is a guitar master.

this place made amazingly fresh and tasty cocktails. this was a fresh squeezed grapefruit juice greyhound.

this drink was made with lime, cucumber, mint, ginger, and vodka. so delicious.

next day made sure to hit bi-rite for the best ice cream around. i got earl grey, honey lavendar, and roasted banana.
the last day topped the cake. me and andrew rode bikes from the mission to downtown (picked up vietnamese sandwiches) and then out to the beach through the panhandle and golden gate park. it was my first time riding a fixed gear bike and it was crazy but i loved it. as a former bmxer i appreciated the challenge of riding through busy city traffic with no brakes and no coasting on shady train track covered roads.
golden gate park is absolutely amazing. my favorite part of the park was called the dinosaur forest or something like that. wild old looking jungle section. the waterfall and the bison were pretty sick too.

Great report. Awesome city. I haven’t spent much time in the Mission on previous visits. Will have to do so.
